Loretto Volleyball Sweeps Spring Hill Behind Strong Serving Performance

LORETTO, Tenn. — Loretto Volleyball turned in a dominant performance Monday night, sweeping Spring Hill in straight sets at Loretto High School.

The Lady Mustangs took control early and never allowed the Lady Raiders to gain much momentum, winning 25-15, 25-18 and 25-11 to complete the 3-0 sweep.

Junior setter Tate Newton delivered one of the biggest performances of the night for Loretto. Newton recorded an impressive 13 service aces, while also dishing out 14 assists and collecting six digs.

Sophomore Taylor Reedy helped anchor the Lady Mustang defense with a team-high nine digs and also contributed an assist.

Loretto's serving pressure and defense made things difficult on Spring Hill throughout the match. The Lady Raiders managed just 14 kills over the three sets and finished with a .014 hitting percentage.

After opening the match with a comfortable 25-15 victory, Loretto faced its closest challenge in the second set. The Lady Mustangs still maintained control, pulling away for a 25-18 win and taking a commanding 2-0 lead in the match.

Loretto then put together its most convincing set of the evening in the third, holding Spring Hill to just 11 points to finish off the sweep.

The victory improved Loretto to 8-8 overall and continued a lengthy run of success against Spring Hill. The Lady Mustangs have now defeated the Lady Raiders in seven consecutive meetings.

Loretto has also won five of its last six matches played at home.

The Lady Mustangs will quickly turn their attention back to district play. Loretto, which sits at 3-0 in District 11-A, travels to Mt. Pleasant on Tuesday, September 1. The varsity match is scheduled to begin at 5 p.m.
