Loretto Volleyball picked up a pair of hard-fought victories Monday night, defeating Lincoln County and Central-Florence in a tri-match at Loretto High School. The two wins moved the Lady Mustangs to 5-5 overall and extended their winning streak to two matches.

Loretto opened the evening against Lincoln County and had to rally after dropping the first set. The Lady Mustangs answered with a close win in the second before taking the decisive third set for a 2-1 victory, 23-25, 25-23, 15-13.

Haylee Bennett led the Loretto attack against Lincoln County with eight kills while hitting .211. Shanna Fisher contributed on both sides of the net with four kills and four total blocks, while Ava Sharpe recorded a kill on her only attack attempt.

The Lady Mustangs faced another three-set battle in the nightcap against Central-Florence. Loretto claimed the opening set 25-22 before Central responded with a 25-19 win in the second. With the match on the line, Loretto edged the Wildcats 15-13 in the third set to secure another 2-1 victory.

Sophomore Delaney Pusser helped lead the Lady Mustangs against Central with seven digs and two service aces. Loretto has now won four of its last five matches played at home.

Monday's sweep came just two days after Loretto completed play in the Showdown at the Sunsphere in Knoxville, where the Lady Mustangs faced a challenging tournament field. The two victories Monday brought Loretto back to .500 on the season at 5-5.

Loretto will return to District 11-A action Thursday, Aug. 27, traveling to Summertown. The varsity match is scheduled for 6 p.m. The Lady Mustangs are currently 2-0 in district play.
